Bicyclist killed in dump truck crash identified
SEATTLE -- The bicyclist who was killed in a collision with a dump truck in the city's Eastlake neighborhood on Friday has been identified as 19-year-old Bryce A. Lewis.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office said Lewis died of head injuries.

Lewis and another 19-year-old man were riding north on Eastlake Avenue toward the University Bridge on Friday when a dump truck making a right turn onto Fuhrman Avenue East crashed into both of them around 3 p.m.

Police said the two men were pinned under the dump truck and dragged for several feet.

Witnesses said when the driver discovered the two bicyclists pinned underneath his truck, he broke down in tears.

Lewis, who was riding in front, died at the scene.

The other bicyclist was taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries.

Detectives blocked off Fuhrman Avenue for several hours following the crash in to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

The name of the man who was killed has not been released, and a lieutenant at the crash site said the two bicyclists were not wearing helmets.

The truck driver was not cited.
