OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. -- A former Grant County teacher who has had trouble with the law for child rape has been arrested again, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives arrested Vern E. Heizer, 50, of Nespelem on Friday for staking and violating a protection order.

Heizer was arrested on July 16 in Okanogan County and charged with two counts of child rape, child molestation and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. At the time, he was working as a middle school teacher and a reserve police officer with a municipal law enforcement agency in Grant County.

Detectives said after Heizer was bailed out, they received several reports of Heizer stalking the victim from the previous case around the victim's home and school.

On Friday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Heizer. They found him in the Nespelem area and booked him into the Okanogan County Jail. Bail has been set at $100,000.
