Teen arrested in murder of 13-year-old Pacific boy

PACIFIC, Wash. - Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly killing a 13-year-old boy in a bedroom of his family's apartment early Friday.

Pacific Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Shook said officers were called to an apartment complex at 600 Ellingson Road just after 3 a.m. when a man notified police that his 13-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter were missing.

Officers searched the apartment unit where the family lives and found the 13-year-old dead of "homicidal violence" inside a bedroom, Shook said. The girl was not in the apartment.

Police later found the victim's sister -- and her 19-year-old boyfriend -- an Algona home about 1 1/2 miles away.

Police arrested the boyfriend, identified as Brandon Suhr, and booked him for investigation of murder, kidnapping and burglary. But investigators won't divulge why he's their suspect until they've tracked all of his movements.

"We're trying to talk with everybody that came in contact with him starting (Thursday) afternoon up until the time of the event," said Det. Tony Matthews with Lake Forest Police, who is helping with the investigation.

The girl was treated at a hospital for minor injuries, Shook said, but it was not known how she was hurt.

Byron Kidder, a friend of the victim, says he has spent time in his apartment and noticed trouble brewing in the house.

"He and his sister had friction and stuff between them and also he's told me that he's had friction between the boyfriend," Kidder said.

Kidder also said there were guns in the apartment.

Investigators looked along the railroad tracks in search of any evidence that might have been tossed along the way. A neighbor said she heard yelling around 11 p.m. Thursday.

"I just heard screaming last night, started yelling around 11," Maria Venegas said. "We could not sleep because it's hard to."

Police say it's entirely possible something bad could have happened at 11 p.m. and not be discovered until 3 a.m.

The victim's name has not been released, but police say he was a 7th grader at Mt. Baker Middle School in Auburn.

Suhr goes by "Master Dante 666" online and appears to have an interest in vampires and mysticism.

He also had a run in with police just last month and faces charges of disorderly conduct, threats to do harm and displaying a weapon.

That arrest appears to be connected to a recently-filed no-contact order by an Algona family, who feared Suhr was a violent influence on their son due to his unhealthy interest in swords and snakes.

That family said they still fear Suhr, even now that he's in jail.
