Documents: Home invasion planned by son of victim's friend

TACOMA, Wash. - The home invasion robbery that terrorized a 69-year-old Tacoma woman earlier this week was planned by the 26-year-old son of her good friend, court documents say.
The son, Bobby Ray McKinney, and two other suspects have now been arrested for investigation of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and unlawful imprisonment in connection with the Tuesday home invasion.
The two other suspects, 20-year-old Jesse Eugene Grimes and 26-year-old Monaroes Sar, are accused of carrying out the robbery and threatening the 69-year-old victim at gunpoint.
According to court records, McKinney had been at the victim's house on several occasions and told the two other men that she had a safe, valuable jewelry and two TVs that could be easily stolen.
Their plan was for Grimes and Sar to enter the house to take the property and split the proceeds between the three of them, according to court records.
On Tuesday, two armed men entered the home in the 3600 block of S. Gunnison just before midnight and took the 69-year-old woman hostage, said Lt. Gerry Lerum with Tacoma Police.
One of the men told the victim, “B---h, I’m gonna kill you, you better be quiet," according to court documents, and then demanded the PIN to her bank card. The woman then gave them a fake PIN number.
Grimes stayed with the woman while Sar went to the bank to withdraw money, police said. But when that failed, Sar returned back to the home and the two ransacked the home, stuffing what they could into two backpacks.
The woman said the suspects took three necklaces, eight rings and 10 bracelets with an estimated value of about $60,000. The suspects also took a white coat.
At some point, a 911 hangup call was made from the home, and when officers arrived, they found the robbers carrying a large screen TV out the front door, Lerum said. The robbers saw officers, dropped the items and ran.
Officers and a police dog gave chase, eventually catching up to Grimes and placing him under arrest. Lerum said the suspect was bitten by the police dog during the chase.
Back at the house, the victim was "shaking violently" in her white nightgown, stuttering and very upset about the incident as police interviewed her.
Based on information developed during the investigation, police tracked down Sar and McKinney and arrested them.
All three suspects are members of the Juggalos street gang, according to court papers.
Lerum said all stolen items were recovered.
