Man's body found in parking lot near Smokey Point

ARLINGTON, Wash. - Police are investigating after a body was found lying in a parking lot early Saturday morning near Smokey Point, officials said.
The body was found at about 5:30 a.m. by a resident of the area who was leaving for work from his home near 168th Street and Smokey Point Boulevard, said Kristin Banfield of the city of Arlington.
Police said the death is considered suspicious because the body was lying out in the open - not the usual location for a natural death or suicide victim.
The deceased was described as a man in his 40s. His body was lying in the parking lot near Ellie's Restaurant at 3525 168th St. NE in Arlington.
The man's cause of death was not immediately known.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has recovered the body and will conduct an autopsy.
