SEATTLE -- A 27-year-old Seattle man accused of gunning down another man outside of a White Center bakery in late 2011 was convicted Thursday of first degree murder.

Prosecutors say Cu Van Truong shot and killed Jason Saechao in the early hours of December 28, 2011 outside of the Seattle Roll bakery. According to court documents, Saechao had been "bad mouthing" Truong to others in the days before the killing.

Others at the bakery initially told investigators a masked gunman shot Saechao during a robbery attempt. Writing the court, a King County detective said both later recanted their stories and said "Cu" killed Saechao.

According to charging documents, Saechao had called Truong minutes before the shooting to apologize. Truong arrived at the bakery, argued with Saechao and shot him four times, according to prosecutors.

Officers arrested Truong at a relative's home later in the day.

A sentencing date has not yet been set. Truong is facing a possible sentence of 40 to 50 years in prison, according to prosecutors.
