Police investigate at the Redmond home where the deadly shooting took place.
REDMOND, Wash. - A 20-year-old Seattle woman has died after she was shot in the neck early Sunday at a home in Redmond, investigators said.

Officers responded to the scene, a residence in the 16800 block of Northeast 97th Street in Redmond, at about 3:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call, said Lt. Charles Gorman of the Redmond police.

As officers were on their way, another 911 caller reported that a woman had been shot.

When police arrived at the home, they found the woman with a single gunshot wound to the neck. She was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for emergency surgery, but died at about 10 a.m. despite doctors' efforts.

Police said a "person of interest" has been interviewed by detectives, but the details and reason for the shooting are still under investigation.

Investigators have learned there was a gathering or party at the house, with about 10 people, prior to the deadly shooting, Gorman told KOMO News. The victim was one of those who attended the gathering.

Gorman also said it appears the person of interest and the victim knew each other as acquaintances.

A team from the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab has been asked to respond and assist with the crime scene investigation.

The names of the woman and the person of interest were not immediately released. Police would not say whether person of interest is a man or woman.
