Teen struck, killed while lying in middle of Lewis Co. road

CHEHALIS, Wash. - A teenage boy was run over and killed in the predawn darkness early Saturday as he lay in the middle of a Lewis County road, the Washington State Patrol reported.
State troopers were called to the scene, on Brockway Road near Chilvers Road, about a mile west of Chehalis, at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
The teen, later identified as Tyler Shawn Gonzales, 16, of Chehalis, was found dead at the scene. He had been hit by a 2006 Lincoln Navigator SUV being driven by a 50-year-old Onalaska woman.
An investigation found that the SUV was heading north on Brockway Road when it came to a slight right-hand curve with no streetlights.
As the SUV rounded the curve, it struck Gonzalez, who was lying in the roadway wearing dark clothing.
The State Patrol says it is unknown why Gonzalez was there.
No charges will be filed against the driver of the Lincoln Navigator.
