Redmond Bans Circus Animals

REDMOND - No Ringling Brothers in Redmond, ever.
The city council just voted to ban circuses and other displays involving exotic animals, such as gorillas.
Seattle-based Citizens for Cruelty-Free Entertainment backed the city ordinance.
The group moves from Redmond to Seattle where it has the support of Mayor Paul Schell for a similar law.
A group spokeswoman says its time for these laws because society is changing its view of animal acts.
The new ordinance in Redmond would not prohibit dog and cat shows, nor would it ban circuses that use only acrobats, magicians and clowns.
