KING COUNTY - Shades of Mary Kay Letourneau.
In a case similar to that of the Burien teacher now serving 7 1/2 years in prison for having a sexual relationship with her underage student, a 49-year-old teacher's aide in Federal Way is being
investigated over allegations she had sex with a 15-year-old
special-education student, police said.
Police and Pierce County Sheriff's deputies questioned the woman
Friday and searched her home north of Tacoma. They seized bedding,
credit card receipts and personal belongings, including her Jeep.
Officers were acting on a tip from state Child Protective
Services. No charges have been filed, said Dan Donohoe, spokesman
for the King County Prosecutor's office.
The woman worked as a teacher's aide at Sacajawea Junior High
School until March, when she was transferred to another school in
the Federal Way School District, The News Tribune of Tacoma
reported.
Due to the age of the alleged victim and the sensitive nature of
the case, the Federal Way Department of Public Safety was
investigating the allegation.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that sources said the woman took her student on snowboarding vacations and to hotels and motels for sex.
The paper said the boy was a troubled teenager with a police record who began acting out violently during the six months he was allegedly involved with the woman.
