SNOHOMISH COUNTY - On prom night in Mill Creek, eight couples rented a stretch HumVee. It's a night they will never forget it.

"Everybody remembers their prom," said Kelly Cook. "But looking back, there was so much chaos, it was more work than fun.

The teens say they got quoted $220 an hour to rent the Hummer. A printout from the rental company's Web site shows just that -- $220 on weekends.

But days before prom, the company billed a parent's credit card $300 an hour.

And, when dad Tony Alstead called to find out why, the owner said that kids were charged a higher rate because they were kids.

The Web site says nothing about that.

But, the teens paid up.

They also insist the Hummer showed up an hour late.

But Checker Transportation owner Alex Milman insists his driver did not arrive late.

"No! they changed times -- many times," he said. "But we came at the exact right time."

The teens argue that was just the start.

After dinner, they discovered the Hummer was missing.

"They pull up in two separate limos and we are like, 'What is going on? We paid for a Hummer,' " said Ryan Lowery.

The owner told Kelly the Hummer broke down.

"I gave her two cars -- one Mercedes and one Rolls Royce for the same amount," Milman said. "And also I said, 'You want an extra hour, I'll give you an extra hour.' "

Teens Want Refund

The kids say with all the delays, their prom was half over, by the time they arrived.

Milman admits he did charge the kids more than the published price, because prom customers typically cause more damage to the cars.

In the end, the teens paid $1,800. They want a refund, the owner insists they got a deal.

Either way, nobody will forget this prom night.

The credit card company which paid for the Hummer is now investigating, and will decide whether to refund some of the money.
