Ressam To Testify

LOS ANGELES - Convicted terrorist Ahmed Ressam reportedly will take the stand in the trial of an alleged accomplice in a bomb plot that may have targeted Los Angeles
International Airport.
Mokhtar Haouari -- like Ressam an Algerian national from Canada -- has been named in court documents as a co-conspirator in the case. His trial begins this week in federal court in New York.
Haouari's lawyer tells the Los Angeles Times that prosecutors told him over the weekend that Ressam would reveal details of Haouari's involvement. It is the first public confirmation from prosecutors that Ressam is, indeed, cooperating.
Ressam was arrested in 1999 at Port Angeles, trying to get into the U.S. from Canada with a trunkful of explosives.
He is expected to testify that Haouari provided cash and a fake driver's license to support a plan to attack a U.S. target on the eve of millennium 2000.
