Canadian Police told KOMO 4 News that the Coast Guard found nearly two-tons of cocaine on board the Canadian vessel "Western Wind". Five Canadian citizens were arrested.
Police say they owe the bust to a program called "Coastal Watch," where people on the seas or living along the water keep an eye out for abnormal activities and let authorities know if something looks suspicious.
Towards the end of last year, authorities received a tip about the "Western Wind," and so they kept close tabs on the boat. Recently, a Canadian aircraft spotted the boat doing suspicious activities in the central Strait of Juan De Fuca. So when the boat entered U.S. waters, the U.S. Coast Guard boarded, searched, and then seized the vessel.
