KING COUNTY - Seattle police officers joined mourners for a young man killed during last week's Mardi Gras riots.

Hundreds of people honored 20-year-old Kristopher Kime at a service Wednesday night at Evergreen High School south of Seattle.

Kime was beaten while trying to help someone who had fallen during the riot.

She pleaded with the crowd to help find her son's killer.

The dozen Seattle police officers who were there in Pioneer Square the night he died. Kris's father Ken Kime told them, "I appreciate the police officers who showed up from Seattle -- thank you very much."

A friend who was there when Kris died admits he saw people all around him assaulted and robbed.

"But I kept walking and that's hard for me to admit. But Kris did what we all know was the right thing to do. He stopped to help a complete stranger in need and he paid the ultimate price for it," said Jason Brand.

His family had a final message: remember Kris and stop it from happening again.

"We must stop this unnecessary violence that is going on," said his mother.
