SEATTLE - Desperate times require desperate measures.

Just ask Mark Toews, an out of work techie who's willing to do just about anything to get a job.

He's tried everything -- searched online, made calls, sent out hundreds of resumes, but so far, nothing.

"It hasn't been working," he said. "There are 20,000 unemployed techies in the Seattle area."

He's 20 years old, and was laid off five months ago.

"I figured it's time to go above and beyond and try something else."

He figured out a better way to get the word out -- stand on the corner of 5th Avenue and Columbia, and panhandle for a job.

"I'm pretty confident I'll be successful if I stick with it. I gotta get my name and resume out there. Guys need a techie."

Mark's sign reads he'll "Code for food."

Sometimes, it's persistence, sometimes it's luck.

Looks like for Mark Toews, it's a little of both as someone takes a copy of his resume.

We'll see what happens tomorrow.

"I'll find out the response tomorrow when I check my e-mail," Toews said.

Toews says he'll be standing outside Microsoft in Redmond Thursday, in case you're wondering how you might reach him.
