SEATTLE - I wanted to see if there was a pulse.
There is.
A healthy one.
In one of my earlier commentaries, I asked if the idea for a monorail running alongside I-5 is worth looking at.
So far, I've gotten 192 e-mails.
189 of them said go for it.
Now, I'll bet the government could spend a couple of million bucks on a more scientific poll - and I'd bet the results would still come out to show overwhelming support for the idea of a freeway monorail.
So, now what?
Well, I figure we need to find a way to flush the fiasco known as Sound Transit and its "We'll give you less and make you pay more" light rail plan.
We've got to start badgering Governor Gary Locke and the state's Secretary of Transportation, Douglas MacDonald.
We start pressuring King, Pierce and Snohomish County executives and county councils; get area city government officials in on the deal.
The tough part? Dealing with politicians who figure it's too late in the game to switch tracks; politicians who think all we're good for is to pay for what THEY think is best.
I'm gonna stay on this issue like white on rice.
Send me your ideas. Let's put this notion into play.
