SEATTLE - The story of Agrippa Williams and his remarkable act of kindness can't be told without telling you about Bill Piersawl.

Bill is alive today thanks to Agrippa.

A year ago when we first met Bill, he'd almost given up hope. He had kidney failure and was on kidney dialysis. He thought this would be his life 'till the end, hooked up to dialysis.

And then, a miracle.

"Something wonderful about being part of an active working miracle," says Agrippa Williams.

This complete stranger, Agrippa donated one of his kidneys to someone he'd heard about from a friend. KOMO 4 News was there during the surgery and right after.

"You did it!" Linda Marie, his wife exclaimed. "A cake walk," Agrippa responded.

Agrippa was very groggy after the surgery. Bill, even more so.

A year later, Bill Piersawl, who's 49-years-old, can honestly say he's never felt this good. He's lifting weights and working out.

These two men, once strangers, are now best friends.

"We talk all the time," says the 52-year-old Agrippa.

In Bill's eyes, Agrippa is a hero.

"Sure he is," says Bill Piersawl. "He's definitely a hero in my mind. He's my hero".

The American Red Cross couldn't agree more. So Thursday morning, they honored Aprippa the 'Everyday People, Everyday Hero" award.

"He saved my life," says Bill.

"There's nothing better than feeling that you've made a difference," says Agrippa with a smile.
