MOUNTLAKE TERRACE - A local woman is getting national attention in the search for her disabled son, but with each passing day she gets more scared. He suffers from a form of autism and she's worried it could have lead to his disappearance.

Roseanne smith prays that those searching the internet will help her search for her teenage son. A personal web site tells the story of his disappearance and national sites now show his face, including the Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Polly Klaas Foundation.

16-year old Ashton Smith suffers from Asperger Syndrome; a form of autism. He can't read other people's social cues, which means he can't sense dangerous people.

Ashton was last seen on June 9th at his apartment complex in Mountlake Terrace. He stopped by the apartments' clubhouse and hasn't been seen since.

His mother says because of his disability, Ashton demands routine and wouldn't willingly leave because it would mean change.

A sign in the front window reads "God please light Ashton's way home," made by a desperate mom who's spent the last 23 days in darkness.

Ashton is 5-foot-8 with a thin build, dark curly hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a T-shirt and blue velcro sandals with white socks.
