SEATTLE - Guess what?

Lee West does not have an unlisted home phone number.

Lee West is the U.S District Judge that ruled the Federal Trade Commission overstepped its authority in creating the national "Do-Not-Call" list.

I wanted to give you his home number (405-348-0818) so we can all give him a dinner time ring in an attempt to telemarkedly lobby for some legal logic from him. Nobody answers the phone there.

Don't bother calling him at his office (405-609-5140).

He doesn't personally answer the phone there.

I tried to call him and tell him that there's a lot of us out here who are tired of being prey.

I wanted to ask him (among other things) why, if it's legal for banks, department stores, government agencies and our own beloved phone companies to sell our home numbers, then why isn't it legal for the FTC to tell telemarketers to pound 222-5633 (BACK OFF).

Even with Congress trying to save the day, Judge West's ruling could still keep the "Do-Not-Call" list on the back-burner.

Amazing, isn't it?

The U.S. House, the Senate, the President, the FTC, a nation of disgruntled consumers - all held hostage by a judge who's legal thought process is obviously blocked-up by something.

Maybe all Judge West needs is an extra spoonful of Metamucil.

Maybe I'll leave him a voice mail.

Maybe you will too (405-348-0818).
