Elma Student Expelled For Creating 'Hit List'
ELMA - Teacher and students are stunned by a very disturbing find at Elma High School

"I was on the hit list," claimed one Elma High School freshman. "Some people thought it was scary and pretty freaky that he was going to kill everybody," he said.

The student who put the list together wrote it this way: "Slotter List." He misspelled the word slaughter, but police fear the intent was the same.

The list included 50 names of fellow students, but it didn't have any explanation of what he wanted to do or why.

"I don't know," said the student who was on the list. "A lot of people make fun of him, or pick on him."

"This juvenile did disclose that he had been picked on," said Police Chief Greg Adams. The chief said the student himself turned the list over to a counselor on Monday and he was expelled immediately. On Wednesday afternoon he was taken into custody.

The list was at least a week old, other students knew it existed but they hadn't told anyone.

"It appears that most of a particular class period in school knew about it," said Adams.

Police and the boy's parents say he did not have access to any weapons. But with school shootings across the country and even here in the northwest, school officials here aren't taking any chances.

"It's every school person's fear that all of the terrible things that have happened across the country might happen in your own school," said School Superintendent Tami Hickle.

The school district, police, and the boy's family are seeking mental health counseling for the teen.

The students at Elma High School still can't help but think about what might have been averted this week. "Everybody was talking about it, they were kind of scared," said one student.
