Help Out Mothers And Fathers In Need
But for Mom and Dad, life is a challenge every day.
They have no money, and no jobs. They live at the YWCA. And yet today they're going on a shopping spree, thanks to a store run by Seattle's Family Services.
It's called the Baby Boutique, a store for the homeless and working poor. Christy Allen is grateful.
"It saves us a tremendous amount of money. Money that we don't have. And we're very thankful that people donated this much," says Christy.
But the Baby Boutique -- which is open year round -- can always use more donations.
"Look at this," says Jennifer Geese referring to an empty bin. "It's obvious that we need underwear. The bins are completely empty. And so when we say that's what we need we're not kidding!"
And when they say people are struggling, they're not kidding. The folks who work at the Baby Boutique see it everyday.
"These moms really have a stressful life. Not only are they homeless, looking for a job, and looking for housing, but they also have kids," says Geese.
At the Baby Boutique, stress is replaced with laughter. The customers forget their troubles for a while as they get the things they need for the holidays.
If you're interested in donating to the Baby Boutique, please drop off donations during store hours, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The Baby Boutique is located at 2113 Third avenue in the Belltown area of downtown Seattle between Blanchard and Lenora Streets.
You can call them at (206) 826-3050, ext. 147.
The Baby Boutique accepts gently used or new items: clothing sizes 0 to 16, blankets and bedding, shoes, coats and jackets, car seats and booster seats, disposable diapers especially sizes large and extra large, infant formula, cribs and bassinets, strollers, new and used toys, and children's books.
