Selling Clothes Using Nude Models?
SEATTLE - Gotta give the marketing wizards at Abercrombie and Fitch their due.

Not only did they come up with the idea of using 'nekkid' people to promote clothing, they went the extra mile and decided to dole out sex advice.

Sort of a 'Buy our jeans and we'll tell you how to do what, with who, once you take them off'.

The splatter hit the fan with the clothing store's Christmas catalogue.

One of my colleagues provided me with a purloined copy.

With professional panache, I flipped through pages containing scores of young, nude models, frolicking in groups, paired off as couples, or off by themselves.

But knowing that merely 'nekkid' is sort of passe, savvy marketers also added their version of Dr. Ruth-like insight on group sex and oral sex.

Yep. Nothing says Christmas like X-rated trash from some yuppie store.

There may only be one thing worse then the imbeciles at Abercrombie and Fitch who are constantly looking for new lows they can sink to.

That would be fools like me who take the bait and give their feeble ploy even more publicity.

But then if I didn't, I wouldn't get to say that not only are their clothes ugly, they're overpriced!

I suppose if you're trying to unload clothes like that, it's better to use models not wearing any.
