SNOHOMISH COUNTY - The Snohomish County Sheriff's office is investigating the disappearance of four horses stolen in broad daylight.
On Tuesday, someone with a four-horse trailer pulled up to a farm in Sultan, loaded up the animals, and left. Investigators suspect they were handed off to someone else at a rest stop near Stanwood, but from there, the trail goes cold.
The horses' owner, Carrie Conway, worries she may never see them again.
"They could be sold at auction, but if they aren't sold for really cheap, they could go for meat," Conway said.
Snohomish County investigators say they usually see one or two stolen horses a year, but never four at once.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
