SEATTLE - Police and prosecutors in Western Washington want to know how long did Anthony Whitfield know he had HIV and continue to have unprotected sex with women?

A woman in his home state of Oklahoma says she can answer that question. She claims Whitfield knew ten years ago.

"This situation has been one of the worst things that has happened to me my entire life," said Ashley.

Ashley knew Whitfield as 'Tony' in Oklahoma City. She says a mutual friend set them up and they dated a short time. After they broke up, one of his friends told her Tony has HIV.

"I fainted dead on the floor," she remembered. "I had just found out that someone I had unprotected sex with deliberately had sex with me while knowing he was HIV positive."

Sarah Powers is another one of Whitfield's former lovers is still waiting to find out the results of her AIDS test. On Monday she showed up to his court hearing in Olympia.

"I hope he rots in jail. He's going to anyway, he has HIV," said Powers.

Local investigators think she may be one of his many victims here. Right now Whitfield is charged with assault in Thurston County for having unprotected sex with three women.

Ashley wishes he had been stopped years ago.

In 1996 she and two other women told Oklahoma City police about about Whitfield. She says they did nothing.

"Finally I said forget it, I have to wash my hands from it, because by this time I knew I was testing negative. I was relieved so I let it go. Now I can't believe I let myself do that," said Ashley.

She says she felt even worse when she ran into Whitfield at a club in Oklahoma City just four years ago.

"He said, 'Ashley I live in Washington now I don't even have anything to do here.' I said, 'what does that matter? You think the women in Washington aren't going to get infected with aids?"

"I don't think if he is free he will ever stop having unprotected sex with women. Ever," she said.

Captain Jeff Becker with the Oklahoma City Police Department confirms Ashley filed the report about Whitfield. He said because it's a sex-crimes case he couldn't talk about it, other than to say there was no arrest in the case.
