SEATTLE - Six months ago, Sarah and Michael Hansen got married. It was the storybook wedding that Sarah dreamed of.

Then came the honeymoon, right here in Seattle.

It happened at Harborview Medical Center's operating room... for brain surgery!

It was Sarah's only chance to stop her seizures.

She had epilepsy. And every week, for 15 years, Sarah had an epileptic seizure.

She couldn't drive a car, couldn't be left alone, and couldn't be a mom.

"Number one, of course, I want to be a mother to raise my family," she said. She was dependent on everyone around her.

"It's painful to see someone suffer like that," says Sarah's husband Michael.

But she doesn't have to suffer any more.

Doctors at Harborview did a risky brain surgery -- so risky that one mistake could trigger a stroke or blindness.

But it went perfectly. Six months later, her doctors are ecstatic. Typically patients can expect to be seizure free about 70 percent of the time. But Sarah hasn't had a seizure since the surgery.

"That is the best honeymoon we could have," says a bouncy and excited Sarah Hansen. "I have no complaints, it was the best honeymoon we could have ever had, it really was, 'cause of what it brought into our lives."

And, they got the best wedding gift too.

"It has brought normalcy into my life, that I haven't experienced for years," she said. "It's a gift, it's such a gift."

"It just seems like such a miracle," says Michael.

Doctors say it will take a year to know for sure if the surgery cured her epilepsy. But Sarah's a believer:

"I want the world to know about Harborview because it has restored something to me that is absolutely priceless."

Sarah feels she's got her life back and can start planning a family. So she and Michael can live happily ever after.

About 3 million Americans suffer from epilepsy. Only about 10 percent are eligible for brain surgery.

Sarah and Michael are from Utah, but came to Seattle, because Harborview has one of the few Epilepsy clinics in the country.
