Car Falls Off Lake City Way Overpass On To I-5
SEATTLE - An accident as hard to believe as it was horrifying sent four people to the hospital Saturday night.

Washington State Patrol investigators tell KOMO 4 News that a Jeep traveling at a high rate of speed missed a curve after exiting southbound I-5.

The vehicle then jumped the curb, knocked down two metal poles, crashed thru a fence and went airborne off the slope of the 80th Street overpass in Seattle before landing back on southbound I-5.

A car and a van going southbound on the freeway were also hit during the crash, Trooper Kelly Spangler said. Investigators still aren't sure if the vehicle landed on a white van, or landed just in front of the van & then the van ran into the Jeep.

Two people in the Jeep and two people in the van were injured in the crash and were taken to Harborview Medical Center. One person was in critical condition and two were in serious condition when they were transported from the accident scene.

Spangler said alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash.
