3.9 Quake Rattles Area Southwest Of Mt. Rainier
MORTON - A minor earthquake shook southwest of Mount Rainier Friday afternoon, the University of Washington's Pacific Northwest Seismograph Network reported.

There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.

A preliminary report by UW seismologists said the 3.9-magnitude quake happened at 2:48 p.m. and was centered 17 miles south-southwest of Mount Rainier, about 1/4 of a mile below the surface.

KOMO 4 News received reports from residents in Morton, Randle, Enumclaw and Ravensdale saying they felt the jolt. We also received an e-mail from a worker at Boeing's Renton plant saying several there felt it as well.

There was a 2.6 quake in nearly the exact spot on Sunday afternoon.
