In Addition To The Heat, Mother Nature Puts On A Light Show
SKAGIT COUNTY - Sure, it's hot outside, but that's not the only event Mother Nature was tossing at us.

Sedro-Woolley resident Wade B. Clark, Jr. went out Thursday night and captured this gorgeous shot of the Northern Lights from near Baker Lake.

It's semi-rare that the Northern Lights can be seen from this far south, but a powerful solar flare touched off a dazzling display.

Wade is no stranger to photographing the Northern Lights. He was a Web site full of photos from earlier Northern Lights events, but apparently our Web traffic was overwhelming it when we linked to it earlier. But, if you peruse through our viewer galleries at this link, you can see some of his earlier submissions through the years.

With solar activity continuing to run high, we might get another display sometime soon. Keep an eye at spaceweather.com for the latest Northern Lights information.

And you can check this link to see a full-size version of the photo.
