Fort Lewis Sergeant Arrested For Child Rape
Investigators tell KOMO 4 News the girl's brother is a fellow soldier at Fort Lewis.
Court documents say the girl told police "she and Kevin had sexual intercourse in her room, her brother's room, bathroom, hallway and outside."
The teen claims they even had sex at Fort Lewis "after a gathering on base." The documents also say they took a trip to Oregon together and "she and Kevin had sexual intercourse about 10-11 times."
"It's almost incomprehensible how this all evolved. But certainly it is one of those situations where there is an abuse of trust and there is an abuse of age difference," said Deputy Scott Wilson with the Kitsap County Sheriffs Department.
Kevin Winkler is a Sergeant with the Alpha Company, 25th Bsb at Fort Lewis. Investigators accuse him of raping three victims: two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old.
The alleged victims live near Poulsbo and were assaulted between July 5 and August 31 this summer.
Police say one victim introduced Winkler to two of her friends. They became his second and third victims.
Detectives say he didn't force them, and court documents say the girls told police the sex was consensual.
But detectives say there's no such thing as consensual sex with a minor.
"We're talking about a individual who is twice the age of these victims," says Deputy Wilson.
If Winkler is convicted of raping those victims, the Fort Lewis Soldier could go to prison for more than 20 years.
