BELLEVUE - Some moms on the Eastside are getting a good workout and having a great social time while their toddlers are at their side. And all are on wheels.

They gather every Tuesday morning, strap on their wheels, and hit the floor. Round and round they go, but this is no race. These moms and toddlers are stroller skating. The moms wear the skates, and the kids sit back in their strollers and enjoy the ride.

"It's a lot of fun," says mom Allison Hawkins, who's been stroller skating with her young son Gage for a couple of months. "It's really good exercise, and it's fun!"

Bellevue's "Skate King" hosts the weekly skating/social hour.

"I get a little out of breath at times, but we're out there talkin' and having a good time," says Hawkins.

"It's something fun to do with other moms. We can talk and not have to chase babies," says another mom, Jamie Dodge.

But pushing a stroller while on roller skates? That sounds a little dangerous.

"Somebody told me about it, and I was like 'Oh no, I'm not gonna do it.' I came and it's fun. The stroller stabilizes you," Dodge told KOMO News.

They're exercising, socializing, but most admit one of the best features of Stroller Skating is the great mix of 80s tunes played over the speaker system.

"It reminds me of my childhood," Hawkins remarks.

"Boy George came on just a few minutes ago, that's my favorite," added Dodge.

Skate King General Manager Nancy Volpert knows her audience.

"I learned real quick when I offered country and they all went 'boo hiss,'" Volpert says.

Remember though, we're talking about toddlers, so once the stroller skate ends the kids are back on their feet and the chase resumes.

"There he goes," exclaims one mom as she runs after her little one.
