They're Eating Their Own
Fanatics within the state Republican party are targeting Secretary of State Sam Reed.
They want him gone and have started a recall effort to boot him out of office.
Why?
Because Sam Reed had the audacity to operate within the guidelines of state law in dealing with the insanity of what we now simply call "The Election."
Reed's being crucified for doing his job.
Absent any legal reason not to, he certified Christine Gregoire as governor.
So up pops this group of rampaging Republicans who've decided that because Reed ran on the party ticket, he's obligated to be their partisan lap dog.
They figure the Secretary of State should've taken it on himself to toss out the election all on his own.
On one hand, it's entertaining to watch Republicans trying to devour themselves.
On the other, it's disconcerting to see how willing some GOPers are to casually dump the law and the constitution when it suits them.
The group needs about 660,000 signatures to get their recall effort to the ballot.
I figure they'll end up about 659,000 short.
Because I don't think Republicans have a particular taste for eating their own, especially one doing a good job under tough circumstances.
