SEATTLE - Think about fraternities, and you might think parties and non-stop fun.
At the University of Washington, members of Theta Chi are thinking about just one thing. And that is helping one of their own. He's Kyle Charvat, who's battling brain cancer.
"My tumor was the size of two golf balls," says Charvat, a junior at the University of Washington.
The guys at Theta Chi are selling bracelets, at $2 a pop. It's to help pay for the treatment Kyle's insurance won't pay for.
"No, they won't pay," says Charvat adding the insurance company believes the treatment is experimental. Charvat considers it a matter of life or death.
Here's how you can order those wrist bands. Please visit www3.caringbridge.org.
And here's how you can help Kyle.
How To Help
If you're interested in making a donation, you can call the People Helper at (206) 441-HELP, or you can email John Sharify at peoplehelper@komo4news.com
Or better yet, checks can be made out to:
People Helper
P.O. Box 19087
Seattle, WA 98109
On the bottom of the check, be sure to include to whom you would like the funds to go. In this case, it's Kyle Charvat. Or, indicate if you'd like to donate to the General fund. 100% of your donations go to people in need.
Your donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt by mail with our thanks. Any extra funds will go to the general People Helper fund to help others in need.
