EDMONDS - Wouldn't it be nice to come home every night to a warm house, with the lights and the stereo on, and your dinner cooked for you?

With the latest home automation technology, you can.

Through new home automation programs, your computer can now wake you up with the weather forecast, but that's not all. Edmonds resident, and one of our engineers here at KOMO, Jabran Soubeih has been tinkering with his system for years.

"It's kind of a joke, every year we hear a report that home automation is on its way," he says. "For a lot of us it's already here."

Jabran has programmed his system, named Joey, to know how loud he likes the stereo, and even to kick it up a couple of notches if the fireplace fan is on.

He says he can also access the system from work via the Web.

A starter kit with software, interface and several modules, remote controls and sensors starts at around US$100.
