'We Deliver Fish'

Eastside moms Tina Montgomery and Jennifer Hanseler had some extra time on their hands.
"We were looking for something to do with our lives, our kids were in school all day," recalls Montgomery.
"We were just talking one day about what was the next step in our lives," says Hanseler.
Their next move would be a business venture. Tina's husband had just purchased a seafood distribution company, and he kept bringing home samples of his work.
"It was the best seafood I had ever had," says Montgomery.
They began having friends over for dinner and so many enjoyed the "catch," these two moms got a business idea, and swam with it.
"We deliver fish," Montgomery says with a laugh.
The duo began "Surfin' Seafood," the area's first seafood home delivery service. Their kids love the idea, and often help after school.
"He's like 'Mom, when can we go out and put brochures in all the businesses,'" Hanseler says.
Montgomery's children have become the "big fish" in the lunchroom.
"We love the shrimp," say the other kids, according to Montgomery. "Tell your mom to deliver more shrimp."
The fish is flash-frozen, then delivered to your door. The pair do everything but cook it for you. It's a big help for stay-at-home dad Jason Dorland.
"Oh yeah, it's nice," Dorland tells KOMO News. "There's even recipes on the Web site."
But is it a good deal?
"We've priced it out. It would be more expensive for me to go to the store myself," Dorland responds.
The Surfin' Seafood business has given these two a chance to make a little extra money, and a chance to do what moms do best: keep us full of good food.
"I thought when I did get back into the workforce I would do something food-related, but I had no idea it would be (fish)," Hanseler says with a laugh. "I love it!"
