We Like Cute Ditties And We Can Not Lie...
"I didn't think anybody would buy ring tones that would sound like actual songs," said Seattle's rap star, Sir Mix-A-Lot, "I just didn't think they'd do it. Wow, was I wrong."
Sir-Mix-A-Lot is best known for his 1992 song, 'Baby Got Back.' Now he's making a comeback creating mini-songs for your phone.
"Maybe it's a 30 second spurt, but it's going to sound like a song on your phone," said Sir-Mix-A-Lot. His mini-songs are upbeat, funny, and unique. Even 'Baby Got Back' is a ring tone you can buy.
"We put the ring tones out six weeks ago, six to eight weeks ago, and we've already sold over a half a million," said Mix-A-Lot.
At about a quarter a pop for each download, he stands to make some serious money.
"I haven't seen the check yet, but I've been hearing rumours," he said with a big grin.
With one ring tone downloaded online every five seconds, it's expected to be a billion dollar business in the U.S. in a couple of years.
