More M's Injury Concerns
PEORIA - New Seattle Mariners shortstop Pokey Reese was held out of Thursday morning's workout because of a sprained left ankle.

Manager Mike Hargrove says he hopes to have Reese back Friday or Saturday. Reese turned his ankle Wednesday during a rundown drill.

The backups are Jose Lopez, who started 55 games at shortstop last season for the Mariners, and non-roster invitee Ricky Gutierrez.

Snelling Hurting Again

Hargrove also says injury-prone outfield Chris Snelling will undergo an MRI exam Thursday on a sore knee. The 23-year-old Australian missed the entire 2004 season recovering from injuries. He had hand and wrist surgeries.

Starters Announced

Hargrove announced he will start Ryan Franklin in March third charity game against San Diego and Joel Pineiro the next day against the Brewers in the Cactus League opener.
