SEATTLE - Who would use religion like a noose?
Who would transform piety and faith into an ugly weapon that could be used to choke off the breath of justice and civil rights?
I'll tell you who: 23 Republicans and 2 Democrats.
You'll find these 25 sanctimonious hypocrites in the State Senate, where they're willing to keep discrimination alive so long as the target is the dreaded homosexual.
It means that landlords can continue to legally deny gays and lesbians a place to live.
It means employers still don't have to give them a job.
Speaking from one side of their mouths, these 25 holier-than-thou elected officials say they voted against the Gay Civil Rights measure because it's what God expects of them.
Speaking from the other side of their mouths, they speak of how it's what the people of their districts want them to do.
Please, let me see the directive from God that specifies how homosexuals should be stripped of dignity and basic human consideration.
And I'm eager to learn which citizens of this state want their family members, friends and neighbors subjected to bigotry and discrimination.
23 Republicans and 2 Democrats: 25 spiteful demigods who see religion as a tool to socially and economically bludgeon people with.
