2 ABC-TV Stars In Seattle Film Festival Psychological Thriller
Actress Lesley Ann Warren plays a troubled waitress trapped in the turmoil of a sleazy small town.
"It's a unique ride that people are gonna get to go on," she told us before the Thursday screening. "And probably have a lot of questions at the end of it."
There are questions too about Sophie Bremmer. That's the character Warren plays as one of the newest additions to ABC's Desperate Housewives. Warren, however, wouldn't say much about the plot twists waiting for Sophie next season. Sometimes she can't even reveal "mystery scenes" to other actors on the show: including Terri Hatcher who plays her daughter.
"I had a mystery scene in one of the episodes and Terri came up to me and said well what's happening and I said sorry can't tell you."
The ending to the film "Deepwater" is also a secret held by another of its female stars.
"You would find that out at the end but I'm not gonna tell you exactly," said Mia Maestro. "I don't want to give it up."
Although she has an impressive list of film credits in the United States and in her native Argentina, Mia Maestro is best known to television audiences as Nadia Santos: the tough as nails super spy sister of Jennifer Garner's character Sydney Bristow on Alias. Nadia, by the way, barely survived the season finale.
"I'm in a coma," she said with a laugh. "I don't know for how long I'll be in a coma yeah."
Both Maestro and Warren have big hopes for the independent film, which also stars Lucas Black and film veteran Peter Coyote. They will gladly sing the film's praises to anyone who will listen.
But try as we might we couldn't get them to give up the movie's surprising ending or give us a hint if Sophie and Nadia will live to see one more season.
"I wish I knew," said Maestro. " I don't know anything about my coma. I know I'm stable .... hopefully."
The movie was filmed, in Clearwater, a small town north of Kamloops in British Columbia.
