Blogs Not Just For Online Geeks
REDMOND - If you think blogging is just for online geeks who like to share their life stories, think again -- one innovative Redmond man says blogs are big business.

Steve Broback started a summit to introduce businesses to blogging after he discovered there was more to it than just online diaries.

He says it's the architecture of a blog that makes it better than a regular Web site.

"If you created two identical sites, one's a blog and one's a traditional site, populated them with the same information, you'd quickly find that Google and other search engines like the blog much better and place it much higher."

Why? He says because the moment you update a blog, it doesn't just sit there online.

Broback says, "You have an immediate audience of 10 million Americans who have…if they have typed in that they are interested in what you talk about, your subject matter, there's a good chance that when you update your site, it'll be automatically sent to them and appear in their newsreaders."

Broback says it's also cheaper than a regular Web site and allows for faster customer feedback.

The Blog Business Summit is being held next month in San Francisco but Broback expects businesses from up and down the West Coast.
