Boeing Gives Us Tour Of New 777-200LR

SEATTLE - The first 777 entered service on June 7, 1995. Since then 777s have flown more than two million flights.

Boeing invited us down this week to check out first hand the new 777-200 LR.

Randy Baseler, Vice President of Marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes tells us that the latest and 5th version has incredible range -- almost 11,000 miles -- which makes non-stop flights possible to virtually anywhere on the planet.

Realizing with long flights you need a comfortable seat, Boeing makes recommendations as to what kind of seats airlines will install. In addition, they make use of overhead space for rest stations for the crew and storage, leaving the main and lower decks to be used for generating revenue for airlines.

Another big plus is the efficiency of this plane as compared to the competition.

The 777-200LR will continue its flight-testing as Boeing prepares the airplane for certification later this year. The first 777-200LR will be delivered to Pakistan International Airlines in early 2006.
