SEATTLE - A University of Washington student battling brain cancer says he won't let a few obstacles get in his way.

Kyle Charvat is determined to graduate, but first he's learning to walk again.

This young man, who's battling a brain tumor, has taken one step forward, two steps back. That's what happens fighting brain tumors.

A few weeks ago, he fell and first lost his ability to walk.

Now?

"When he was able to stand up after a half hour or so, he said "I can even dance,' " laughed his mother Sheryl.

There has been much laughter, and tears. And even more tears when insurance wouldn't pay for experimental chemotherapy to save his life.

That's when his fraternity brothers and friends came through.

One year ago, they started selling bracelets at $2 each to raise money for Kyle's medical treatments. It's also allowed Kyle found out just how many friends he has. The final tally? $100,000!

He wants to thank KOMO viewers, who also helped.

Meanwhile, Kyle is very determined to get back to normal. Kyle made me promise to visit him again, so I could see him dancing.

Kyle, I promise.
