Star Power Puts Local Game Maker On The Map
SEATTLE - A local game-maker is in the national spotlight just in time for Christmas. Some star power is really putting the people at "Simply Fun" on the map.

Gail DeGuilio is CEO of SimplyFun, but she's a mom first.

"I wanted to build family traditions in my own family, and we like to play games," DeGuilio tells KOMO News. "But I couldn't find games that were simple to learn and also fun to play."

Just about the time her company was forming, she met actress Darryl Hannah. "And they had developed this wonderful game called 'LIEbrary' that I absolutely fell in love with," DeGuilio says.

Flash forward to today. Gail's company has worked with Hannah, and "LIEbrary" is reality. This past week, Hannah played "LIEbrary" with Ellen Degeneres, and Friday night, she showed it off to Jimmy Kimmel.

While it's currently the most hyped, "LIEbrary" is just one of SimplyFun's offerings. But you won't find them in stores; these games are sold like Avon and Tupperware. "With people teaching you how to play so that you can experience the game, try before you buy, if you will," says SimplyFun's Vice President of Marketing Matt Molen. "They can just decide which games they like best."

National TV exposure is fine, but "mom" says their mission at SimplyFun is...well...much simpler.

"Our whole vision is to get families to spend 30 to 60 minutes a week sitting down and playing a game," DeGuilio says.
