SEATTLE - A car apparently taken from a man who was found murdered near a house in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood was located Thursday morning by Oregon State Patrol officers.

Seattle Police Spokesman Rich Pruitt said the silver 2002 BMW was spotted at a gas station in Rice Hill, OR by two troopers who were in an unmarked car.

Three people who were in the car were being questioned by Seattle Police detectives but have not been arrested in connection with the murder, Pruitt said.

The body of the car's owner was found Wednesday evening by firefighters outside a house in the 2300 block of Beacon Avenue where they had just finished extinguishing a small fire.

Pruitt said the man died of "obvious homicidal violence," but declined to elaborate.

The house was being renovated and was unoccupied. "It appears that this person was working on the house," Pruitt said.

The name of the man who was killed has not been released.
