SEATTLE - A new shortcut to community services will be launched in King County next month, our newspaper partner, the King County Journal, reports. A simple phone call to 211 will connect people to more than 8,000 community services from crisis support to emergency shelter and food.
Organizers say the goal is to help people get the help they need
with as few phone calls as possible.
The 211 system now serves 139 million people in 32 other states and Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
The system is scheduled to go live throughout the state by the end of the year.
