Pothole Rangers Have Their Work Cut Out For Them
SEATTLE - After all the rain we've been getting, Seattle has a "Hole-y" mess to clean up. Soaking wet streets have caused potholes by the hundreds.

So, who ya gonna call?

The Pothole Rangers!

With the thundering beat of the asphalt mixer and a hearty cry of "here's another one," Seattle's Pothole Rangers are on the job.

"We have four Pothole Ranger crews that are filling potholes throughout the entire city of Seattle," says Patrice Gillespie-Smith of the city's transportation department.

She says filling potholes is their business and business is good. "Because it's been raining so much we're getting a lot of requests to fill potholes."

Mayor Greg Nickels promises all potholes will be filled 48 hours after you report them. Pothole Rangers say, "Thanks a lot, Greg."

"We're getting out there filling as much as possible as quickly as possible."

The Rangers have already burned through 130 tons of asphalt this month. "And that's double what we used last year," says Gillespie-Smith.
