1,000 Hawk Faithful Fill Westlake Center
The rally featured Mayor Greg Nickels unfurling a "12th Man" flag as King County Executive Ron Sims led the crowd with a "Go Hawks" chant.
The fans not only wore blue and green, they bled blue and green.
"They know the Seahawks are gonna win the Super Bowl, OK," screams a man with a Hawk head and wings.
"I just want the Hawks to know we're all back here and we're supporting them to the 12th!" says Janine Mattoon.
A number of sports figures addressed the crowd, which included former Seahawks kicker Norm Johnson.
"Pittsburgh may outnumber us in fans," he said. "But nobody has the heart and soul that a Hawks fan has."
The crowd included people taking time away from work and a few students who insisted they weren't playing hooky - many of them decked out in Seahawks blue and green.
Kate Carol, 15, a sophomore at Roosevelt High School, said she had the day off to celebrate the end of finals week and was glad she didn't have to miss the rally in math or English class.
"You'd be a bad Seattle citizen if you didn't show up," she said, adding that she was "way excited" about the Super Bowl.
Kim Kristad, 47, had Friday off from her downtown Seattle job but drove her usual hour-long commute from Olympia, 65 miles to the south, just to show she's a "true-blue fan."
Kristad, who played clarinet with her high school band when the Seahawks opened their old stadium, the Kingdome, about 30 years ago, declared the rally "wonderful." She said it reminded her of the excitement in 1979, when the Seattle Supersonics won the NBA title.
"Everybody's in such a good mood. It puts a bounce in everybody's step," she said.
If there was one overall message to Pittsburgh from Seattle??
"Bring it!"
"Just bring on the 'Squealers,' we're going to Motown, Detroit Hawk City," says "Big Rich".
And what's a Super Bowl rally without a little trash talk?
" I can't wait to see Joey Porter flat on his back after Jerramy Stevens handles it," says Doug Wright.
"I think it's gonna be a blowout, just like the Carolina game -- Seahawks number one offense in the league," says C.J. Rox.
And nobody else can say this -- Elvis is a Hawks fan too.
"It's now or never, my love won't wait, thank you very much," sings Elvis, aka Phil Edwards of Seattle.
