Ambulance Catches Fire On I-5 In Skagit County
SKAGIT COUNTY - Everyone got out OK after an ambulance caught fire in Skagit County Friday afternoon.

Skagit County Fire Chief Dan Costanti said the AMR ambulance was taking a baby to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham along I-5 north around 1 p.m., adding the ambulance was traveling at normal speeds and was not rushing with lights and sirens.

At some point near Alger, the ambulance began smoking. They were able to pull over and get everyone out safely before the vehicle caught fire.

Medics tried to extinguish the fire, but were unable to. Firefighters eventually got the fire out.

Another ambulance came to take the baby the rest of the way. No word on what caused the fire.
