Cat Helps Save Homeowners From Fire
Terri Jones with the Northshore Fire Department says the fire broke out just after 4 a.m. in the 15900 block of 70th Ave NE in Kenmore.
There were three people inside, who managed to get out safely, but that might not have been the case had it not been for their cat. One of the residents said the cat woke him up and that's when he noticed the fire and got the other two out.
Meanwhile, the fire eventually burned through the back of the house and into the kitchen and attic before being extinguished, and there is major heat and smoke damage to the rest of the house.
None of the human occupants were hurt, but Jones said some of the other family pets did not survive.
The cause was determined to be accidental, but investigators are still looking into what exactly sparked the blaze.
The Red Cross is assisting the three now left homeless.
