Fire Burns Pleasure Boat Near Anacortes
ANACORTES - A 30-foot pleasure boat caught fire and sank near Anacortes, leaving a sheen of diesel fuel in the water.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Jeff Pollinger in Seattle says a man on board the boat escaped in a dinghy Wednesday morning and was picked up in another boat. He's not injured.

Pollinger says pollution investigators have responded to the scene. There were about 160 gallons of diesel fuel on the boat. The sheen is about three-quarters of a mile off shore in Burrows Bay.

The Anacortes harbormaster reported the fire to the Coast Guard, which sent a helicopter and a 25-foot boat from Bellingham.

Pollinger says the fire was put out by a Skagit County boat.
