SEATTLE - The players on the Chief Sealth High School girls' basketball team will not lose their championships.

A school district investigation found that coaches broke state rules by recruiting players and by giving parents fake leases to make it look like they lived in West Seattle.

The coaches won't be back next year.

The Metro League could have forced the team to forfeit one or both of its back-to-back state championships. But principals from the league's schools voted 9-to-2 Wednesday to back the district's punishment.

The team will be on probation for the next two years.
